Bringing Managed File Transfer To The End User

Take a quick tour on how Proginet is bringing Managed File Transfer to the end user with Slingshot. Slingshot allows an end user inside or outside an enterprise to easily send and receive files of any size. Slingshot integrates seamlessly into MS Outlook so end users have a familiar interface to transfer files. Also, our Web Browser Application has all the functionality that is in the Outlook Plug-in, so even non Outlook users have the ability to send and receive large files. All files are sent via HTTPS so you know your attachments are secure with Slingshot.

Hi I’m the product manager here at proginet and this is a quick tour of our end user file transfer solution, slingshot.

Slingshot includes an outlook plug-in that is almost unnoticeable to the end user. You simply attach your file to an email and based on the customizable pre set rules - slingshot will automatically take over and send your attachment based on its size. You have the option of adjusting your files settings before sending it quickly and securely to the recipient.

For the recipient - the file transfer is received just as easily as it was sent. The same way that they would receive an attachment if it was sent using only Microsoft outlook - they simply click on the attachment in the email and are prompted to save the file.

If the recipient does not have the outlook plug in installed – click on the download files link in the email – this will direct them to the browser application – enter your user id and sign on to the browser. Just locate the attachment and click to open or save it.

Slingshot also gives you a full administrative control center. One of the many features allows you to set the rules for how your email server will interact with slingshot such as how large a file should be for slingshot to take over.

A new capability within slingshot is self registration. Even without receiving an e-mail with a slingshot attachment an end user can still create an account. From the slingshot browser url – you just click on “first time user”. Then just fill out the required information and you now have a slingshot account and you are immediately brought into the browser application.
