A large government agency is deploying all three core components of CyberFusion Integration Suite™ (CFI) to replace its existing installation of Sterling Commerce’s Connect:Direct. CFI allows the agency to implement a secure managed file transfer solution for both internal and external file transfers. These files include highly-sensitive financial data, human resource and personal information, and other organizational data which will be fully encrypted using the CFI Suite. CFI meets the agency’s compliance requirements and is both FIPS 140-2 (cryptographic standards)and Section 508-compliant.
CFI provides the government agency with a fixed-cost alternative to Sterling’s Connect:Direct and most importantly allows for unlimited scaling to meet business requirements. The CFI enterprise license also allows the agency to provide a single copy of the software to each of the fifty U.S. states, four U.S. territories, and a select number of other federal agencies.
Challenges:
- A single solution for all internal and external file transfer needs
- Support for multiple platforms, including Windows, UNIX (AIX, Solaris), Linux, AS/400, and the Mainframe (z/OS).
- Bi-directional communications with business partners (states, territories, federal agencies)
- Expansion and maintenance costs for the Sterling Commerce file transfer solution are too expensive
- Sensitive and confidential data needs to be protected
- Bring all file transfer communications into compliance with FIPS 140-2
CFI Solution:
- The agency has been able to standardize on a single solution for all file transfers (both internal and external)
- Proginet’s fixed-cost, enterprise licensing model has enabled the agency to reduce costs substantially by migrating off the entrenched COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) and legacy transfer solutions. The agency is now using CFI to securely transfer thousands of files daily, both internally and externally. All data is fully encrypted at all times (encryption is included as standard with CFI – there are no additional costs).
- A single copy of CFI has been given to each of the agency’s key business partners (including all fifty U.S. states, four U.S. territories, and other federal agencies). The agency is able to communicate securely with these partners using CFI.
- CFI supports all required protocols including FTP, SFTP, FTPS, and AS2.
- CFI’s cross platform support enables data to be transferred easily between all platforms in use including Windows, UNIX, Linux, AS/400, and the Mainframe.
- CFI Platform Server integrates fully with a variety of scheduling tools including Control M. Using CFI, many of the agency’s key processes have been automated from end-to-end.
