Ringing in the New Year with PCI Compliance BITA Planet December 27, 2007 – BITA Planet, which focuses on business and IT alignment in the enterprise, today interviewed Proginet Senior Vice President, Arne Johnson, on the Payment Card Industry (PCI), and its member organizations' challenges in responding effectively to the Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Johnson likes the PCI DSS because it provides a lot more detail than many other compliance mandates. That doesn't make the challenges go away of course. “I think that everybody has done something,” he notes, "but it’s unlikely that everyone has done everything to meet the mandate in total. There are still many places where [consumer] information is floating around out there unprotected, because of the use of data transfer protocols like FTP that are inherently unsafe but are free." He concludes that this doesn't even begin to take into consideration the fact "that probably the largest file transfer system in the world isn’t FTP, but e-mail attachments." That’s a problem Proginet has been working on. It expects to unveil, in the first quarter of 2008, new technology that brings e-mail attachments under the same protection as file transfers, but in a way that is transparent to end users. Enterprise Open Source Magazine Reports on CFI's Support for zSeries Linux Enterprise Open Source Magazine July 12, 2006 – Trade publication Enterprise Open Source Magazine reports that Proginet's CyberFusion Integration Suite now supports Linux on IBM's zSeries line of mainframe servers, and that a major educational lender has licensed the software specifically for use with Linux in its mainframe environment. Linux on the mainframe has become increasingly popular over the last several years. Organizations can deploy multiple Linux installations on a mainframe in a process known as "virtualization." Virtualization allows a piece of hardware to run multiple operating system images at the same time. Linux virtualization has proliferated as organizations seek to slash OS software costs and consolidate servers. From a data movement perspective, CFI's support for Linux on the mainframe enables organizations to consolidate all enterprise file-transfer activity, eliminating FTP and associated security risks, while reaping considerable cost savings. |

Processor looks at the big picture on password reset, and focuses on the dramatic cost savings organizations can realise with a formal solution in place. Chris Farrow, Proginet Senior Systems Engineer, was interviewed for the piece and states, "A formal process for password reset is an absolutely necessary safeguard.
