If you think about the work that you are going to do on your house in a recession that we are seeing right now, the last thing you focus on is fixing your plumbing unless it’s broken.

This brings us to integration. Mainframes need to coexist with the other platforms, including Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc., but how do companies tie their mainframes in to all their distributed platforms? How does data get exchanged between the various systems and applications?

Proginet’s Sandy Weil Interviewed for Washington Post Information Security Supplement
Washington Post Security Supplement

November 25, 2008 - Today’s issue of The Washington Post carried a special supplement on information security. Interviewed in the publication is Sandy Weil, Proginet’s President and CEO, who discusses the need to secure data not just as it moves around, which is probably relatively obvious, but at the very point where it enters and leaves an organization. This ‘entry-point’ can be a source of significant exposure for many organizations. Proginet’s managed file transfer solutions are architected to avoid such issues by passing data straight-through in a proxying or port-switching action that uses the demilitarized zone or DMZ as a buffer so that people cannot connect directly to the internal network. Proginet also has a hardware-based appliance called Edge Server that serves as a secure gateway for enterprise file transfers. Edge Server sits in the DMZ and serves as a secure gateway for external communications. More and more, organizations are choosing to deploy secure gateways within their DMZ.
